Highlights of Cambodia

From the striking towers of Angkor Wat and sacred jungle temples to the lively capital city of Phnom Penh, our small group tours to Cambodia will show you all of the must-see sights as well as the paths less travelled. Here are a few highlights of our Cambodia adventure holidays.

Angkor Wat
Angkor Wat is said to be the largest religious monument in the world. A group of temples constructed in honour of the Hindu god Vishnu, the site has since transformed into a Buddhist place of worship. Get up at dawn for the best views of this majestic sanctuary on our Heart of Cambodia Discovery Tour. As the sun rises over the jungle, beams of light illuminate five jagged towers soaring into the sky, and the mirror-glass moat reflects the fiery red skies. Move closer to uncover ornate bas reliefs depicting Devatas and Hindu parables and learn about the temple’s unique history.

Phnom Penh
Explore Cambodia’s capital city, Phnom Penh on our Cambodia Highlights Tour. Join your local guide to uncover a treasure trove of magnificently preserved carvings and lintels in the National Museum and pay respect to those lost in the brutal Cambodian genocide under Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge regime. Also take some time to immerse yourself in the exotic sights, sounds and smells of this lively city. Dodge fast-moving tuk-tuks, wander through tree-lined French-colonial boulevards, and snack on authentic Cambodian noodles from a hole-in-the-wall cafe.

Jungle treasures
Cambodia’s jungles conceal a plethora of sacred treasures. Jump on a bike or hail a tuk-tuk on our Simply Southern Indochina Tour to explore temples, shrines and ruins hidden deep within the dense undergrowth. Uncover the ancient Ta Prohm temple (famous for the setting of Lara Croft’s film ‘Tomb Raider’) entangled by sprawling tree roots and burnt orange moss or take to the waters of the Roluos River to visit floating villages and the stilted houses of Tonlé Sap Lake.

Solo travel

Our Cambodia holidays are suitable for solo travellers too. At least half of the people on our tours are single, so our small group tours are a great way to meet like-minded people and make new friends. Plus, you can let us look after all of the logistics so you can explore Cambodia with ease and without any of the stress or hassle.

Best time to go to Cambodia

In the words of one of our local guides, ‘Cambodia has three seasons - hot, hotter and hottest!’  As such, our trips to Cambodia tend to run from July through to March, avoiding the dry season when the temperatures can be stifling. The most popular months are from November to March when the weather is mostly dry, but Cambodia’s countryside will be at its most verdant during the wet season from July to November - the rain is actually very refreshing and only lasts 1-2 hours each day.
