Best cycling tour destinations in Asia

India

The tropical coastline of India's southern Kerala is a beautiful place to explore on two wheels. Pedal past lush tea plantations and along palm-fringed beaches, and explore a labyrinth of lanes weaving in and out tranquil backwaters set back from the Arabian Sea. Or join our Golden Triangle cycling tour to explore the cultural heart of northern India. Dodge tuk-tuks in Delhi, admire the divine Taj Mahal and cycle along dusty back-roads through the rural villages of Rajasthan.

Vietnam

Jump into the saddle for a cycling tour along the length of Vietnam's east coast for a truly unforgettable cycling adventure. Immerse yourself in the eclectic and lively culture of Saigon, ride through serene rainforests on the banks of the Mekong Delta, cycle over mountain passes in the Central Highlands and barter with traders in the busy street markets of Hoi An.

Sri Lanka

Friendly locals smile and wave as you ride along the quiet back-roads of rural villages and tea plantations on an unforgettable cycling holiday to Sri Lanka. Visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, watch the sun come up as you climb the spiritual Sigiriya rock, and follow trails over the Knuckles Range for breathtaking views over mountains draped in lush green forests. Go in search of leopard in Yala National Park, and look out for crocodile as you cycle through Bundala National Park.

What to expect on a Cycling holiday in Asia

When is the best time to join a cycling trip to Asia?
Generally speaking, if you're hoping for dry days in the saddle and less humid conditions, book your India or South East Asia cycling holiday between November and March. For East Asia cycling tours, Spring and Autumn are usually the best times to visit.

How challenging are the cycling tours in Asia?
We have a wide variety of Asia cycling tours with varying levels of difficulty. Our ‘easy’ cycling holidays are relaxed, the terrain is mostly flat, the roads are quiet, and the routes are shorter. The moderately graded cycling trips involve a bit more climbing, and we'll pedal further each day. If you are an experienced cyclist, you may choose to join one of our more challenging rides that feature longer days in the saddle and require a good level of fitness.

What kind of bikes are included on your Asia cycling holidays?
For all of our Asia cycling tours, we use good quality hybrid or mountain bikes that best suit the terrain that you will be riding. Also, for an additional fee, you have the option to hire an electric bike if you want a bit of extra power. We will also provide full maintenance support and spare parts. All you need to bring is your own helmet.

What is the accommodation like on your Asia cycling holidays?
We most often stay in comfortable accommodation during our Asia cycling tours. These mid-range hotels offer a good level of service and usually include amenities such as a restaurant, bar, garden or swimming pool. The rooms are generally pleasant with en-suite facilities. Occasionally we'll stay in more basic, family-run establishments or campsites for a more immersive and cultural experience. For example, we may sleep on futons in Japan, and we'll rest in bunk bed cabins on an overnight train in Vietnam. Check each individual tour page for more details about the level of accommodation you can expect.

Is cycling in Asia suitable for solo travellers?
Absolutely! All of our small group cycling tours welcome solo travellers. Over half of the people who join our tours do so on their own, so you'll be in good company. Join like-minded adventurers as you explore Asia on two wheels and forge new life-long friendships that will last well beyond the length of your trip. Plus, rest assured that our expert cycling guides are always on hand to show you the way and provide mechanical support if required.
