Family Adventures in Tuscany

Experience canyoning and zip wires in the Turrite Valley on our Tuscany Multi-Activity Adventure. Arriving at the pretty village of Fornolovasco, canyon down the Rio Pinguino in the parco Battifero which allows us to try some small water jumps. After a relaxed lunch back at Fornolovasco, take a walk up the dry canyon to descend back down with time to see the amazing caves. Back at base, there’s time to zip wire across to the café to relax at the bar with an ice cream.

Family Adventures in Sicily
Visit the slopes of Mount Etna, the highest volcano in Europe and one of the largest in the world, on our Sicily Multi-Activity Adventure. Drive up the mountain, through the citrus groves and beech woods to Linguaglossa Rivittello where you can taste local dairy and salami products. Continue up the road to Piano Provenzana. From here you’ll continue on foot up to the crater on the Northeast side at an altitude of 2,300m, stopping off for lunch and at numerous craters along the way. After your descent, you’ll visit a volcanic cave before returning back to your hotel.

What is the accommodation like on a family holiday in Italy?
You will mainly stay in comfortable locally-owned hotels on your family tour in Italy, with the exception of a night in a tree tent on our Family Sicily Multi-Activity Adventure. Where possible, we make sure that you have at least two nights in the same place so you don’t have to unpack and repack too often. As swimming pools are one of the most important hotel features for families, we always try to find family-friendly accommodation with pools.

How old are the children on a family adventure in Italy?
The average age of children on an active holiday in Italy is 14 years. To make sure you get the most out of your family tour, there is a minimum age limit of seven on the Tuscany tour and 11 on the Sicily tour.

What is the food like on a family holiday in Italy?

Italian food is well-loved by families and you’ll find delicious pastas, pizzas and salads at most venues. Order fettunta with your meal in Tuscany, a freshly toasted slice of Tuscan bread generously rubbed with garlic, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with salt. Or try caponata in Sicily, a sweet and sour aubergine dish.

What should I pack for a multi activity adventure in Italy?
July and August are the hottest months but early and late in the season go prepared with clothing to suit a drop in temperate and showers including a warm fleece/jacket and light rainwear. You’ll need your swimming gear and comfortable walking boots, trainers and sandals are also recommended.
