Ranthambore National Park
One of the biggest national parks in India, Ranthambore is home to the mighty Bengal tiger. You can add our Ranthambore Wildlife Extension to any of our India tours, which includes two jeep safaris to spot the tigers as well as other wildlife like sloth bears and leopard. You'll get the train to and from Delhi for the extension, giving you the chance to experience India rail travel and get a good view of the North Indian landscape. 

Satpura National Park
Take a jeep safari in search of Bengal tiger, sloth bear, leopard and Malabar giant squirrel in the Satpura National Park on our Indian Wildlife Adventure. With a backdrop of rugged hills, sandstone peaks and deep gorges, explore areas on foot and discover the park’s smaller residents from butterflies to ants. Smell the wildflowers and touch the native sal and teak trees. Board a boat on Tewa Lake and glide silently through the coves and bays, scanning the shore for leopard and the large Mugger crocodile.

Gujarat in Western India
Visit the Gir National Park on our Tribes and Wildlife of Gujarat tour, the only place in the world where Asiatic lions can be seen in the wild. Take a late afternoon jeep safari and try to spot the lions amongst the varied terrain of rugged hills, high ridges, densely forested valleys and wide grassland plateaus. There are plenty of other wildlife to look out for, including several species of deer and antelope, leopard, langur monkey, striped hyena, honey badger, ruddy mongoose and a huge variety of birds. 

Keoladeo Ghana National Park 
After a sunrise visit to the world's most poetic building, the Taj Mahal, travel on rickshaws through Keoladeo Ghana National Park on our Family India Golden Triangle Adventure. Covering 12 square miles, with around 7,000 acres underwater, the park is a haven for large numbers of breeding waterbirds and migrants. Spot some of the 300 species that have been sighted there, including heron, stork, geese and the huge and rare Siberian Crane. 

When is the best time to go on a wildlife tour in India?
The climate varies considerably between the different regions of India. Generally, the weather is tropical and the best time to take a wildlife tour in India is between October and March, when the monsoon season has ended and the country is mainly warm and dry. 

What should I pack for a wildlife holiday in India?
Daytime temperatures are warm and comfortable but the mornings (when the animals are most active), evenings and nights can be cold. Both lightweight clothing and warmer garments are essential. Comfortable shoes and sandals are also recommended as well as a daypack.

What is the accommodation like on an Indian wildlife tour?
On our wildlife tours in India we stay in a mix of hotels, heritage properties, campsites and homestays. Accommodation is locally owned and run wherever possible and has been chosen for sustainable practices and its location close to the key sites.  

How much activity is there on a wildlife tour of India?
Most of our wildlife tours in India are graded as Moderate or Full-On - check the trip page to find out the grade. They are generally busier as they include early mornings to see the animals when they are most active, and activities like jeep safaris so you get to see as much wildlife as possible.

How many people will there be on a small group wildlife holiday in India?
On our Indian wildlife holidays, our average tour size is just 11 people - small enough to get to the heart of the destinations we visit and crucially its wildlife. For family tours, in general you will travel with three to five other families.
