Best walking destinations in Scotland

Orkney Islands

Orkney is an archipelago of islands off of the northeastern coast of Scotland. Home to a plethora of wildlife, including puffin, and fascinating archaeological sites dating back to the stone ages, a walking tour around these islands is full of unusual sights and unexpected wonders. Join our Orkney Islands Walking Tour to take in panoramic views and seascapes as you wander along the blustery clifftops of Deerness Peninsula and spot thriving colonies of guillemot and kittiwake gathered along craggy coastlines of Westray Island. Uncover one of the best-preserved Neolithic villages in Europe, Skara Brae, at Stromness. Hike to the ancient standing stones of the Ring of Brodgar and the imposing 6-metre tall Stones of Stenness - the oldest henge in the British Isles erected some 5000 years ago.

Isle of Skye

Feel as though you're walking on another planet as you discover the dramatic rugged peaks, russet-red heathland and black, basalt crests on our Isle of Skye Walking Adventure. Scotland's second-largest island, Skye is abundant with picturesque walking trails and spectacular vistas that have to be seen to be believed. Ascend the Munro Bruach na Frithe peak to admire far-reaching panoramas towards Ben Nevis, and head to the grassy summit of The Table for views of the iconic Cuillin ranges and the mountains of Wester Ross on the mainland.

North West Highlands

Rich in indigenous plant life, including lavender, wild orchids and Scotland's national flower, the thistle, a walk through the North West Highlands UNESCO Geopark is a nature lover's paradise. Glacier-carved mountain peaks rise up from copper-coloured heathland, and a climb to the top of Cul Mor on our North West Highlands Walking Holiday reveals 360-degree panoramas across the Assynt landscape. Hike to the summit of Stac Pollaidh to explore sandstone pinnacles forged by the last ice age and stretch the legs with a wander around Corrieshalloch Gorge, where the pearly white waters of the Falls of Measach cascade into a dark ravine.
