Baltics tour highlights

Trakai Castle, Lithuania
Dating back to the 14th-century, Trakai Castle is the former base of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Set upon an island and surrounded by beautiful sapphire-blue water, the turreted red-brick castle looks like something out of a fairytale. Step back in time on our Baltic Capital Cities tour as you traverse a wooden bridge towards the gated archway. Beyond the threshold, you'll discover a vast medieval courtyard and a museum laden with ancient relics. Learn about the historical significance of Trakai to Lithuania, and view timeworn artefacts including old coins, watches, medals, furniture, glassworks and armour.

Curonian Spit National Park, Lithuania
At over 98 km long, the golden beaches and windswept sand dunes of Curonian Spit National Park are not to be missed. Join our Baltic Republics tour to explore this unique stretch of sand that separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea. Search for a nugget of amber washed up on the shore and watch out for roaming moose, wild boar and various bird species in the twisted-tree forests as you search for the mythical wooden sculptures of the 'Hill of Witches.'

Jurmala, Latvia
Pedal along white-sand beaches lined with dense pine forest and old wooden cottages in Jurmala on our Baltic States cycling tour. One of the largest resort towns in the Baltics, Jurmala is famed for its spas and Soviet sanatoriums that were built to take advantage of the fresh sea breeze, nourishing mineral springs and desolate beaches. Explore the town by bike and stop for ice cream or a coffee before heading back to the beach for a quick swim.

Laheema National Park, Estonia
Look over for beaver dams, or even beavers themselves if you're very lucky, along the Altja River Valley and go bog walking through the ancient swamps and wetlands of Lahemaa National Park on our Baltics walking tour.

Saaremaa, Estonia
Uncover timeworn windmills, medieval churches and lush juniper groves on the small island of Saaremaa in Estonia on our Historic Baltic Republics tour. Isolated during the Soviet-era, the island still retains an age-old charm. Head to the open-air Koguva Museum to find out about the island's history and seek out the ornate stone carvings at Karja Church.

Baltic capital cities
Explore the three Baltic capitals, each with it's own unique charm, on our Baltic Capital Cities tour.

Vilnius, Lithuania
Wander along the winding cobbled streets of Vilnius, Lithuania's capital city and discover breathtaking Baroque and Gothic churches and colourful townhouses. Visit the KGB museum for a fascinating insight into the Soviet Union's secret service, seek out the Church of the Dawn, and uncover one of the oldest universities in Europe. Vilnius is renowned for its excellent cuisine. Make time to stop in a street-side cafe for a delicious hearty casserole and wash it down with a refreshing local beer.

Tallinn, Estonia
Stroll through the Old Town of Estonia's capital city of Tallinn to marvel at the incredibly well preserved Hanseatic buildings. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Tallinn has little traffic and is easy to explore on foot. Head to the town square to soak up the lively atmosphere of pavement cafes and shops and visit the Bastion Tunnels to uncover a maze of underground passages, bunkers and shelters that were used during World War II and the Soviet Era.

Riga, Latvia
Colourful terraces of Hanseatic buildings line the banks of the Daugava River in Latvia's capital city of Riga. Take a gentle stroll along the picturesque waterfront and pop by the lively Central Market to sample some of the local delicacies, including smoked fish and sauerkraut. Find a seat in a street-side cafe to feast on tasty meat-filled pastries and take some time to sit back and watch local life unfold.
